Welt pockets are also known as bound or jetted pockets. They are a very common in gent's tailoring, and I have also seen them on some of the military tunics down in the store as well as on my travels to Edinburgh Castle.
I thought it would be a good idea to try out a smaple of a welt pocket. I found a good step by step instruction again from the book 'Tailoring - The basic guide to sewing the perfect jacket'.
